The first week is usually a very stressful period of you and your baby.
While you are adjusting to each other there are some things you
need to take care of. Firstly,
it is highly recommended that infants sleep on their back.
And, call the doctors office immediately if: |

Your
infant develops a life threatening condition such as stopping breathing
or turning blue.
|
 |
You
suspect your baby has a fever, or your baby feels cold to the touch,
take a temperature.Call if
the temperature is below 97.5 F (36.5C) or above 100F (37.8C). |

Your
baby has trouble breathing or making grunting sounds in each breath.
|
 |
Marked
change in behavior - listless or unusually irritable, excessive
sleepiness, excessive crying that cannot be comforted.
|
 |
Does
not awaken to feed or refuses to eat (at least two feedings). |
 |
Vomiting
frequent and excessive (not spitting up with burping).
|
 |
Bowel
movements with blood or large amount of mucous or which are very watery.
|
 |
Jaundice
(yellow skin) over more than the babys face. |
 |
A
new skin rash which has pus-filled pimples or is unusual in appearance. |
