Now that your baby is home (Finally!!)   the journey begins. of loving, caring, giving…
Week 1
The first week is usually a very stressful period of you and your baby. While you are adjusting to each other there are some things you need to take care of. Firstly, it is highly recommended that infants sleep on their back. And, call the doctor’s office immediately if:
Your infant develops a life threatening condition such as stopping breathing or turning blue.
You suspect your baby has a fever, or your baby feels cold to the touch, take a temperature.Call if the temperature is below 97.5 F (36.5C) or above 100F (37.8C).
Your baby has trouble breathing or making grunting sounds in each breath.
Marked change in behavior - listless or unusually irritable, excessive sleepiness, excessive crying that cannot be comforted.
Does not awaken to feed or refuses to eat (at least two feedings).
Vomiting – frequent and excessive (not “spitting up” with burping).
Bowel movements with blood or large amount of mucous or which are very watery.
Jaundice (yellow skin) over more than the baby’s face.
A new skin rash which has pus-filled pimples or is unusual in appearance.
