While Earth takes one year to revolve round the sun, it appears as though that sun is moving around the stars round the same period. This imaginary path of sun is called ecliptic or zodiac and is divided into 12 equal parts or zodiacs namely, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, cancer etc.
There are 27 stars namely Aswini, Bharani, Krittika, Rohini etc. Each star is divided into 4 quarters or padas and nine such quarters or padas occupy each zodiac.
While zodiac presents a generalistic view of personality of each individual born in that zodiac, the birth star has its distinctive qualities bestowed upon each individual. It also influences the relationship of one with the other.
Thus, in judging the compatibility of bride and bridegroom, star's analysis helps in decision making to some extent. |
