Selecting the venue depends largely on the type of wedding you and
your families want. The location should be closer or accessible to you, family, guests,
caterers, florists and just about everybody involved.
Once you decide on a location, reserve it immediately once the wedding
date is finalized. This way you avoid surprises in peak season. If you have selected
a location that many guests find new, include a map to the venue in your invitation card.
Other things you may need to consider before finalizing a location.
- How many guests you expect for the wedding and how many people will
the space accommodate comfortably?
- Is the parking space available nearby and is it sufficient to cover
your guest list?
- Go through the payment details. What is the sites fee and how
many hours does the fee include?
How much is the deposit? Is it refunded if you cancel or change the date?
- Do you want indoor or outdoor wedding? What is the best backup plan
for an outdoor event in case of bad weather?
- Does the marriage hall have contracted decorators and caterers? Or
can you make your own arrangement ?
- Do they have a fully equipped kitchen? Do they have any limitation on
the type of equipment we arrange for?
- Do they provide tables, chairs, linens, heaters, lights, and power
generator? If so, is there an additional fee?
- If you are arranging for music, does the location have a sound
system? What are the details and fees?
- Is alcohol permitted?
- Do you want a sit-down or a buffet dinner?
- Decide on the seating arrangement.
- The location must be accessible to you, guests, caterers, florists
and everybody.
